One Direction to wear animal costume for Leeds music festival

If reports are to be believ

ed, British boy band One Direction are planning to don animal disguises to avoid being mobbed by their doting fans. Party in the Park festival organisers are concerned that the popular boy band may get hysterical fans “overwhelming” them and are “considering every viable option” to avoid such a situation.

The group, who are headlining the festival in Leeds, are considering wearing animal costumes and arriving in everyday vehicles to avoid fan hysteria. According to a source “no stone is being left unturned”.

The Daily Star has the source commenting: “We are considering every viable option to avoid the lads getting absolutely overwhelmed by their fanatical fans. They want each member of One Direction to arrive separately in animal-themed disguises.”

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will also leave behind their luxury transport and travel in normal cars to the festival on July 22.

The source said: “They also want them in a normal car to prevent them getting mobbed. Instead of arriving in the all-singing, all-dancing tour bus or limousine, they will be bundled into an every-day vehicle while wearing costumes to fool people.”

One Direction rose to fame through British reality show The X Factor. They placed third in the seventh edition of the series and were later signed on by Columbia Records. They currently occupy third spot for best-selling album in the US so far in 2012, according to Neilsen SoundScan that ranks top-selling musicians for the first six months of each year. Their debut studio album Up All Night has secured its 16th consecutive week on the Billboard 200’s Top Ten list.

One Direction wow on the first night of the X-Factor Tour

One Direction went down a

storm with the audience at the first night of the X-Factor Official tour in Birmingham over the weekend.

The five-piece were hugely popular with the Birmingham crowd, with teenage girls screaming every time their image flashed up on the screen. When the boys finally made it to the stage, security had to step in to warn the crowds to get back as the audience surged forward to get a closer look at the up and coming boy band.

Unlike the other finalists, One Direction had the chance to perform 5 songs during their performance, only the winner Matt Cardle equalled the number of songs the boys were allowed to sing. The other finalists were all limited to just two songs each.

After taking to the stage, the lads from One Direction gave an energetic performance of Kids in America and Only Girl in the World. One Direction also had the honour of performing a track which didn’t feature on the ITV show. The boys sang Forever Young, the song they would have released as their winner’s song, if they had won the series.

The two Birmingham dates were a homecoming gigs for One Direction’s Liam Payne who hails from nearby Wolverhampton.

The nine X-Factor finalists are will now take their official tour across the country as they play 38 dates throughout the UK.

The X-Factor live tour rehearsals have got underway and will see the finalists reunited for the first time since the grand final before Christmas.

The first date of the official X-Factor tour is due to kick off later this month. With 37 dates planned for cities across the UK, the non-stop performing will keep the X-Factor stars busy until April.

One Direction have joined their fellow contestants including winner Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, Wagner, Katie Waissel, Cher Lloyd, Padje Richardson, Mary Byrne and Aiden Grimshaw as the gang prepare for the start of the X-Factor tour which already boasts a number of sell out dates in several cities.

Cher Lloyd is very excited to be back together with her X-Factor pals as she took to her Twitter account this week to tell her fans she is having a “crackin time” rehearsing with a live band ready for the tour dates.

One Direction even played a warm up gig in Oxford this week giving fans a taster of what to expect once the full tour gets started.

To coincide with the launch of the X-Factor Tour, One Direction will be releasing a book through top name publishers HarperCollins. The glossy hardback, Forever Young: Our X Factor Story, will feature exclusive pictures of the One Direction boys, plus diary entries from Zain, Liam, Niall, Louis and Harry and all the behind the scenes gossip.
